WHERE HISTORY BLEEDS INTO LEGENDS

With nearly four hundred years of dark history behind it, it’s no wonder Salem is said to hold on to its dead. This isn’t a jump-scare gimmick with actors in the bushes. It’s a real walk through the parts of Salem’s past that don’t make the daytime tours. The murders, the misfortunes, and the residents who, some say, never quite left.

Led by an experienced local guide, the 1692 Bloodbath Adult Ghost Tour is created exclusively for ages 18 and older. You’ll move through haunted streets, past centuries-old buildings and burying ground, into the heart of “Witch City” where every stop hides a story of betrayal, justice turned vicious, or a spirit that lingers.

“When the sun goes down, Salem reveals its darkest stories – where shadows stir, and the past still bleeds into the present.”

Hear about unsolved murders, paranormal encounters, and the occasional detail that will send a shiver down your spine. It’s one of the best things to do in Salem after dark for anyone who wants the unfiltered version of Salem’s past.

THE ROUTE

8 + stops, four centuries of haunted history

Real places, real records, and the stories that cling to them once the streetlights come on. Here’s where the Bloodbath tour leads you.

1. BUILT IN 1826

Rockafellas

This site once held the first four versions of the First Church of Salem. The current building, now owned by Rockafellas, was completed in 1826. The church held services on the second floor, while the first floor was rented out to local businesses, including the Daniel Low Company. Like many of Salem’s historic buildings, this 200-year-old structure has some spiritual residents. A grumpy minister in a black suit and a Lady in a blue dress. Join us as we uncover the legends of these two ghostly residents and hear the stories reported by employees and patrons.

2. BUILT 1831

Turners

The Old Lyceum Hall, constructed nearly 200 years ago on the land once owned by Salem’s first executed witch, now serves as a seafood restaurant. While the walls remain silent, the cash register has been known to speak. Paranormal investigators were stunned when a message mysteriously appeared on the receipt printer. Join us to learn what the message said and the stories reported by patrons and employees.

3. FOUNDED IN 1733

St. Peter's Church

An accused witch, defying the Puritan church, donated his land to the Church of England. The twist? This current structure was built on top of an old graveyard. Join us as we dive into the church’s history and what really happened to the interned residents.

4. BUILT 1813

Old Salem Jail

The Salem Jail was one of the oldest continuously operating prisons in the U.S. Built during the War of 1812, it endured for 179 years before closing its doors in 1991 due to inhumane conditions. This chilling prison has a long list of murders, suicides, and public executions. With no electricity, the eerie glow of the moon was all that lit the cells at night. It is said that those who worked the night shift were haunted the most. Join us as we discuss the prison’s haunted legacy, where time stopped for those who never walked free.

5. EST 1801

Howard Street Cemetery

Next to the old prison is Howard Street Cemetery. Its inhabitants are Revolutionary War soldiers, sea captains, and first mates. But it is also said to be haunted by one of the most brutal executions that happened during the Salem Witch Trials. Learn the shocking stories of those who were interned here and the accused witch who haunts it to this day.

6. BUILT 1804

Gardner-Pingree House

It was a crime that rattled Salem to its core: The brutal murder of the wealthy and well-connected Captain Joseph White. Step into the shadows of this infamous case as we uncover the chilling truth behind his demise, the conspirators who plotted his end, and the sinister motives that sealed his fate.

7. EST 1637

Charter Street Cemetery

The city’s oldest cemetery, dating back to 1637, is the final resting place of Salem’s earliest residents. Some of whom will make their presence known in the form of strange orbs and ghostly figures that are often seen drifting through the night, with eerie reports dating all the way back to its founding.

8. CIRCA 1665

Pickman House

A nearly 361-year-old house stands next to the Witch Trial Memorial and the Charter Street Cemetery, where the restless spirit of a young girl is said to haunt the attic, forever tied to the chilling history of this location. Discover what led to her tragic passing.
